 WINDOWS

My most recent series (the “Window” paintings) explore the dichotomy between painting as object and painting as window. I want the works to push and pull, to “feel” like inert colored mud but to open onto a vision that conveys movement and distance and atmosphere.

BLUE CLOUDS

Smörgåsbord of interest to the eye, study of cool colors inspired to capture excitement and calm.

Halves

Exploration of the fractal nature of reality and the lighthearted essence of existence.

BUBBLES

Windows expressed in a grid with a total balance of lines. Layers of paintings on paintings peeking out amongst each other tell the story of the ones who came before.

My recent work has been focused on construction and demolition: layers of forms and color are abstracted from my surroundings, brought to a state of balance or completeness, then torn down by scraping, abrading and otherwise trashing the surface. The resulting textures and ruins then serve as the basis for rebuilding the piece in a new direction.
